Comprehensive 360° Eye Consultations
At Acuity Eyecare, our exams are more than just a vision test. We provide a holistic assessment of your ocular health and visual performance.
Understanding You
We begin with a detailed clinical discussion to gather as much information as we can. This is our opportunity to fully understand your vision concerns, general health, and any previous ocular or family history of relevance.
Vision Check
We test the sharpness of your vision at multiple distances to identify your exact eyewear prescription. By establishing a precise baseline, we can accurately monitor any subtle changes in your vision over time.
Eye Coordination
We assess how well your eyes work together as a team (binocular vision). Proper alignment is vital; misalignment can be responsible for double vision, fatigue, and headaches, as well as learning difficulties in children.
Eye Health & Advanced Diagnostics
We examine the internal and external health of your eyes using the latest eye technology. We look for signs of eye disease (such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and cataracts), UV damage, and general health conditions like diabetes.
Eyewear Advice
Not all lenses are created equal. We believe the lenses you see through are more important than the frame, so we expertly deliver the best eyewear solutions specific to your work, sporting activities, and hobbies. View Eyewear Options
Health, Lifestyle & Medications
Understanding the impact of diet and lifestyle is vital to maintaining good lifelong vision. We provide tailored advice on nutritional support and, where required, can prescribe therapeutic eye medications or coordinate a specialist referral.
Eye Protection
Living in Australia, we must consider your workplace and leisure safety. We discuss your specific eye protection needs, including high-quality UV and glare protection to prevent long-term damage. View Glasses | View Sunglasses
Contact Lens & Ortho-K Suitability
We provide preliminary advice on your suitability for contact lenses. We also offer specialised Ortho-K assessments for those interested in overnight vision correction to achieve clear vision without daytime glasses or daytime contact lenses.

Total Solution & Eye Care Plan
We combine all elements of our 360° consultation to provide your personalised eyecare solution and future eye care plan. We prescribe quality eyewear tailored to your lifestyle and ensure you feel empowered with knowledge about your eye health.
The Importance of Regular Eye Exams
Regular comprehensive eye exams are the only way to ensure that you are seeing clearly and comfortably, and that your eyes are healthy. A routine eye exam can also pick up signs of systemic disease, such as high blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes. During your visit, eye pressure is also measured; if this is too high, it can indicate a higher risk of glaucoma, much like high blood pressure indicates a higher risk of heart disease.
Most people only feel it is necessary to have their eyes checked when they notice something wrong with their vision or if they have a sore or red eye. However, there are changes that can occur to the health of your eyes without you even being aware. Conditions like glaucoma can have no symptoms whatsoever until the disease has well and truly progressed, so regular checkups - even if everything seems in order, are necessary to prevent vision loss.
Luckily, today we live in a world where technology and medicine are making great strides every year, so we are able to prevent or at least slow the progression of most eye conditions once picked up. Typically, the earlier a diagnosis is made, the better the prognosis will be. Even if your vision feels unchanged and there are no concerns with your glasses or contact lenses, it is still vital for your long-term eye health to have a vision test every 1–2 years. A comprehensive exam takes approximately 30 minutes to complete, providing you with peace of mind that your eyes are being well looked after.

Individualised Eye Exam Services

Specialised & Vocational Assessments
Are you looking for a specific assessment for work or licensing? Beyond our standard eye exams, we offer dedicated clinical evaluations for specific vocational requirements.
This includes formal vision certification for VicRoads, Police, and CASA (Aviation) standards. We also provide suitability assessments for eye surgery (SMILE/LASIK/PRK) and Ortho-K lenses for clear sight during the daytime.

Children’s Eye Exams
Children can suffer from a wide variety of vision disorders, which are often quite different from the problems adults experience. A child can have issues with their visual system even if they have completely clear long-distance vision.
A child can and should have their first eye exam before kindergarten, but can also be assessed significantly younger if there are any concerns. They should then be seen again before starting school (age 5), and every 2 years thereafter. If you have noticed your child has a turned eye, is having trouble concentrating, or is complaining of headaches, it’s best to have their eyes checked immediately.

Colour Vision Eye Assessments
Colour vision deficiency, or ‘colour blindness’, affects the ability to differentiate certain colours. It is more common in males and is typically congenital, though it can be acquired through certain diseases.
We use the ‘Ishihara’ colour vision test to screen for defects efficiently. All Acuity Eyecare clinics are equipped to screen for colour vision and can assist in appropriate referral for specific vocational colour vision assessments as required.
Acute Eye Problems & Urgent Care
If you're experiencing a sudden eye concern, such as a foreign body, sudden pain, or new flashes and floaters, we offer urgent consultations for acute problems.
