Comprehensive 360° Eye Consultations

At Acuity Eyecare, our exams are more than just a vision test. We provide a holistic assessment of your ocular health and visual performance.

The Importance of Regular Eye Exams

Regular comprehensive eye exams are the only way to ensure that you are seeing clearly and comfortably, and that your eyes are healthy. A routine eye exam can also pick up signs of systemic disease, such as high blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes. During your visit, eye pressure is also measured; if this is too high, it can indicate a higher risk of glaucoma, much like high blood pressure indicates a higher risk of heart disease.

Most people only feel it is necessary to have their eyes checked when they notice something wrong with their vision or if they have a sore or red eye. However, there are changes that can occur to the health of your eyes without you even being aware. Conditions like glaucoma can have no symptoms whatsoever until the disease has well and truly progressed, so regular checkups - even if everything seems in order, are necessary to prevent vision loss.

Luckily, today we live in a world where technology and medicine are making great strides every year, so we are able to prevent or at least slow the progression of most eye conditions once picked up. Typically, the earlier a diagnosis is made, the better the prognosis will be. Even if your vision feels unchanged and there are no concerns with your glasses or contact lenses, it is still vital for your long-term eye health to have a vision test every 1–2 years. A comprehensive exam takes approximately 30 minutes to complete, providing you with peace of mind that your eyes are being well looked after.
