Speciality Eye Assessments

Beyond routine care, Acuity Eyecare provides formal, high-precision eye assessments for licensing, vocational requirements, and eye surgery suitability. Our clinics utilise advanced diagnostic technology to ensure all eye assessments meet the stringent standards required by regulatory bodies, providing you with a seamless and professional experience.

Laser & Refractive Eye Surgery Assessments

The decision to pursue refractive eye surgery can be both an exciting and a confusing one. There are many options including laser refractive eye surgery (SMILE, LASIK, PRK and others), and implantable contact lenses (ICLs).

Our optometrists are able to help you navigate the options, explain the pros and cons of each, and discuss which options are suitable for your particular vision problem through these specialised eye assessments. Not all vision and glasses related problems can be ‘fixed’ with refractive eye surgery however, and a thorough eye examination can help identify if this is the unfortunate case.

Ortho-K Assessments

Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) provides a non-surgical alternative for those seeking clear vision without the need for glasses or daytime contact lenses. During these eye assessments, we perform detailed corneal topography to determine if your eyes are suitable for overnight reshaping lenses.

Vocational Colour Vision Testing

While basic colour screening is part of a routine exam, many occupations require formal certification. We use the Ishihara test and other specialised tools to identify colour vision deficiencies and can assist in appropriate referral for specific vocational eye assessments as required.

Licensing & Occupational Eye Assessments

VicRoads Driving Assessments

Formal VicRoads driving eye assessments are often requested for the purpose of renewing a driving licence. Our optometrists are able to complete all the necessary tests, including computerised peripheral vision testing. VicRoads forms are now moving online, and as a result, your optometrist at Acuity Eyecare is able to submit your results on your behalf almost as soon as the appointment is complete!

Police Check Vision Assessments

Formal vision eye assessments are required as part of the application process for many occupations, including admission as a Police Officer or Protective Service Officer. Our optometrists are happy to assist and/or give advice on any formal vision assessment requests. Simply make an appointment, advise our staff of the purpose of the appointment, and attend with the necessary paperwork to be completed.

CASA Vision Assessments

CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority) vision eye assessments are required for the purpose of attaining and maintaining a pilot’s licence. We have optometrists at Acuity Eyecare that are ‘CASA endorsed’ and trained. Make sure you advise our friendly staff at the time of making an appointment that you require a CASA assessment to ensure you are seen by an appropriately endorsed optometrist for these eye assessments.
